The Greene County High School Awards Night for the graduating class of 2024 was held May 14 in the high school auditorium. Students were awarded a combined total of more than $211,000 in local scholarships. Additionally, every graduate was awarded a $500 grant from the Greene County Community Schools Foundation.
The grants are funded by an endowment from the late Floyd Dunlop. Dunlop farmed northwest of Farlin. He and his wife Maxine had no children, but when he died in March 2017 at the age of 96, he left the large majority of his estate to the Greene County Schools to provide scholarships.
